You’ve gotta add the Red Raspberry Pie with Vanilla Custard Sauce from Pines Tavern in Gibsonia, PA. It is amazing and you can use frozen berries for it! I have it cut out from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette from years ago, but this link looks close. http://www.food.com/recipe/red-raspberry-pie-with-vanilla-custard-sauce-222632

You should try Pecan Cheesecake Pie. It’s pecan pie with a layer of cheesecake. You will never be able to eat plain pecan pie again!

All-time favorite, always requested for my birthday dessert…double crust lemon pie, we always called it. Top crust glazed, thin-sliced lemons in the filling. Think I’ve seen the pie called Slice o’ Lemon Pie. The best!!!

Apple Crumb Tart! I make it at the cafe I work at and I’ve made it at home, too! The trick to making it so delicious is caramelizing the apples before I put them in the tart. Yummmy!

  9. Kimberly@The Little Girls Bakery Reply

I love pie! And you’re right, the crust is always better homemade! Pecan or cherry is probably my favorite, but I have yet to try the banoffee pie!

Being from Kentucky, the classic Derby pie is definitely my favorite! A local restaurant here even goes as far as topping it with ice cream, dipping the whole thing in chocolate, and sticking a popsicle stick in the middle – a dilly bar on crack is what we call it! But oh so good =)

  24. Jenny Flake Reply

What a perfect line up of mouthwatering pies and tarts!!

Oh, those wonderful-looking pies immediately took me back many years to my all-time favorite, my every-year birthday dessert request. We called it 2-crust lemon pie. I have since discovered the recipe named “Slice o’ Lemon Pie.” I don’t remember it having any cinnamon added to top the crust, but do remember the egg white brushed on with sugar added.

Got any amazing lemon meringue pies? Or any twists to the typical lemon meringue, perhaps? I really love cream pies, like coconut, chocolate, and banana. Your strawberry pie is exactly how my great-aunt made hers. It was always tradition to have it at Easter every year. After she passed, no one would make it! I finally made one and made my grandma (it was her sister) cry! Good tears ;)
