What You’ll Need for this Paleo Pecan-Crusted Fish Recipe

This recipe uses things that you probably already have in your fridge or pantry at home. Here are just a few notes on the ingredients:

Pecans

You’ll want to use raw pecans rather than anything that’s already roasted, salted, or chopped. Anything with additional flavor will change the taste of the coating. If you don’t have crushed pecans, you can always crush them yourself! Or, if you want a smoother coating, you can put the pecans into a food processor to pulse them to a smoother, crummier consistency. Either way, pecans are the nutrient-packed nut that has been shown to help with heart health and brain function, so you’ll be getting a nice health boost whichever way you crumble it!

Almond Flour

For this recipe, we used almond flour mainly so we could keep our recipe inclusive for people on all diets (gluten-free, paleo, keto, etc.). However, you are very welcome to switch to whichever flour works best for you. Whole wheat flour would work just the same and would give you a nice fiber boost.

White Fish

We chose cod for this recipe because it has a thicker texture and fantastic flavor. You can either do full filets or cut them into smaller strips to make fish sticks. You can also swap out cod for another white fish, such as tilapia or snapper. All are great options and packed with awesome nutrients like omega-3s and protein.

Garlic Powder

Garlic powder or garlic granules will work great, just don’t use fresh garlic or garlic paste, as that will soften the crust. You can even use garlic salt if you aren’t watching your sodium intake!
