After many, many delays, Matt Reeves’ The Batman is finally here, and it's a smash-hit with a sequel already having been green-lit. The Batman, unlike Batman Begins, tells the story of Bruce Wayne’s “second year” as the Caped Crusader. Is The Batman Streaming Online?
Yes! The Batmanis readily available to stream on HBO Max and has been since April 18. Unlike in 2021 when Warner Bros controversially released their entire theatrical slate day and date with their streaming service, they'll be implementing a 45-day theatrical window for their 2022 slate and beyond. The Batman is the first to implement this strategy and will be followed by WB's other high-profile titles such as Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Elvis, Black Adam, and Don't Worry Darling.
The day-and-date release schedule financially hurt nearly every Warner Bros. film of last year, except for Dune (which grossed more than $400 million worldwide) and Godzilla Vs. Kong. Thankfully The Batman has proven to be a box office success, grossing $134 million in its opening weekend, the studio's biggest since It in 2017, and the second-largest opening weekend since the start of the Pandemic.
Is The Batman Still in Movie Theaters?
Yes, it is. As previously established, The Batman opened in theaters everywhere on March 4. The film also played in IMAX theaters, which Matt Reeves himself highly recommended, alas the film is no longer available in that format. That being said the film is still playing in over 1,000 theatres across North America. Much like nearly every movie released since 2020, The Batman had been rescheduled more times than one can count! Thanks to the Pandemic, we had had to wait over a year further than the originally scheduled release date for the film – June 2021.

When Will The Batman be Available on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD?

If you still enjoy buying physical media and want to add The Batman to your collection, Warner Bros announced the film will be available to buy on 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD on May 24th. Several stores are also selling exclusive packaging for the film, including a 4K steelbook at Best Buy, a gift-set at Wal-Mart, and exclusive packaging and extra bonus features at Target.
What Is The Batman About?
As per the official synopsis from Warner Bros goes:
Batman ventures into Gotham City's underworld when a sad*stic killer leaves behind a trail of cryptic clues. As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator's plans become clear, he must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued the metropolis.
The Batman is a reboot of the Batman franchise, with Robert Pattinson stepping into the title role, replacing Ben Affleck from the DCEU. As we have said before, Reeves’ movie looks to really adapt the comic book version of the character, painting a portrait of Gotham that we really have not seen since the Tim Burton films from the late 80s/early 90s. This interpretation of Batman is meaner, rougher, and, more dangerous than any previous incarnation, and Pattinson looks to be having an absolute blast with it.
