This fresh strawberry lemonade is tart and sweet and absolutely fantastic. If strawberries aren’t your thing, try swapping berries!

If you can still find sweet, ripe strawberries, it isn’t too late to make this delicious fresh strawberry lemonade!

And let me tell you, it’s still so hot and muggy in my neck of the woods, I would gladly enjoy this any day during the next week or beyond, I’m sure.

A friend I knew briefly a few years ago sent me this recipe last week and it sounded so refreshing and tasty that I had to make it immediately.

Needless to say, my kids went crazy for this. It was tart and sweet and absolutely fantastic. Thanks, Tara!

By the way, I think you could use many a berry-swap for this recipe: raspberry lemonade, blueberry lemonade…the options seem endless!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice, from about 5-8 lemons
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups sliced, fresh strawberries

Instructions

  • Combine the lemon juice and sugar in a blender and blend for about 30 seconds to combine. Add the strawberries and puree or pulse until the strawberries are at the desired chunkiness. I liked the strawberries slightly chunky but my husband preferred it to be more smooth – blend to your own preference!

  • Pour the lemon/strawberry mixture into a pitcher and add 4 cups of cold water. Mix well and serve chilled.

Mel – do you think you could use fizzy water (club soda or Pellagrino) to make a fizzy lemonade? Would you adjust the sugar level at all?

    • Mel Reply

Hey Jennifer – you could certainly try! I think it would be yummy.

I know this is an old post, but I wonder how it would be with honey instead of sugar. We use honey in our sun tea and love it, but I might be partial since the hubby is a beekeeper. And I don’t keep sugar in the house anymore.

This has a wonderful flavor, and it is so easy to throw together. I blended mine super smooth and strained out the strawberry seeds. (Oh, the things we do for our children!) Thanks, Mel!

Made yesterday, very refreshing summer drink! I’d love to try it next with fresh blueberries. Have you ever used frozen fruit to make this lemonade?

    • Mel Reply

Christine – I haven’t used frozen fruit but I definitely think it is worth a try.

This was beyond fabulous–so delicious and refreshing! When I think of the effort I went through to make a much more complicated strawberry lemonade (from a very well known blog) and how none of us liked it, I could gnash my teeth. This recipe deserves 11 stars on a scale of 10!

Loved this, Mel! I was surprised how easy it was. I made a double batch (big crew comin over :)) ahead of time and kept the puree in the blender container in the fridge and then mixed it with two 2 liters of lemon-lime seltzer instead of plain water. I really liked the addition of the fizz. Will add this to my party rotation for sure!

So yummy Mel! I do the bountiful baskets and got like 8 lemons this week wondering what to do with it and what do ya know we got strawberries too 🙂 I’ve never made fresh lemonade before (sad, I know) but I don’t think I’m ever going back now!!

I made a great peach lemonade yesterday. 4 C water, 1 C sugar, 2 peaches diced. Combine and bring to a boil; simmer for 10 minutes. Let cool. Strain mixture and add to 3/4 C lemon juice. Delish! I thought it was a little sweet, and I would also mash the peaches instead of dice. I’m think it could made up and frozen and then just add the juice later.

My family loves any kind of mixed lemonade (especially strawberry and raspberry)! We will definately try this one! I think frozen fruit would work when berries aren’t in season, don’t you, Melanie? Thanks!

    • Mel Reply

Yes, Kim, I think frozen berries would work great, too…and maybe even make it a kind of icy smoothie.
