This flavorful meatloaf gets its delicious, complex taste from one simple secret ingredient – Lipton Onion Soup mix! I’ve tried a few other versions, but this is hands-down my favorite meatloaf recipe.
Made with just a few simple ingredients and its wonderful onion flavor makes it honestly the most perfect meatloaf recipe you’ll try.
What You’ll Need to Make Lipton Onion Soup Meatloaf Recipe
- 2poundslean ground beef
- 1envelope of Lipton Onion Soup Mix
- 2large eggs
- ½cup ketchup
- ½cupdry bread crumbsplain or Italian
- ¼cup water
- 1tablespoonWorcestershire sauce
- 1teaspoongarlic powder
- Additional ketchup or barbecue sauce for the top of the meatloaf
A few notes:
- If you want to make this recipe a little leaner, you can substitute one pound of ground beef for one pound of ground turkey. I’ve tried to make this recipe using only ground turkey and it comes out very dry and crumbly – I do not recommend it.
- Sometimes when I make this, I’ll add half a cup of grated parmesan cheese – a trick I learned from the Pioneer Woman’s recipe.
- During the summer, when you’ve got extra garden produce, try adding chopped bell pepper for extra flavor and texture.
How to Make This Easy Meatloaf Recipe
Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Next, in a large bowl combine ground beef, dry onion soup mix, eggs, ketchup, bread crumbs, water, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder.
Now, mix all of the ingredients together with your hands until all of the ingredients are combined.
Place the ground meat mixture in a greased loaf pan or form it into a loaf shape on a greased or aluminum foil lined baking dish. Spread a thin layer of ketchup or, for a sweeter flavor, barbeque sauce, over the top of the entire meatloaf.
Place the pan in the oven and bake for 50-60 minutes, until the internal temperature of the center of the loaf is 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
To help prevent crumbling when slicing, let the meatloaf rest for about 5 minutes before you cut into it.
Store leftover meatloaf in the refrigerator in an airtight container. This easy recipe makes the BEST meatloaf sandwiches the next day!
